Upwind Acquires Nyx Security to Strengthen Cloud Runtime Security

Upwind, a cloud security provider specializing in real-time protection, has announced the acquisition of Nyx Security, an embedded cybersecurity startup based in Tel Aviv. The move marks Upwind’s first acquisition and advances its efforts to extend runtime protection beyond cloud infrastructure into the application layer.

The addition of Nyx strengthens Upwind’s platform with the ability to detect code-level anomalies as applications execute in real time. While traditional security tools have struggled to keep pace with the dynamic nature of cloud-native environments, Upwind’s expanded capabilities aim to deliver continuous visibility across both infrastructure and application workloads, without introducing additional complexity into customers’ technology stacks.

Nyx Security’s technology focuses on Application Detection and Response (ADR), monitoring which functions within an application are actually executed during runtime. This level of insight enables detection of behavioral anomalies and exploitation attempts as they happen, improving the precision of threat mitigation efforts. By bringing together application-layer observability and infrastructure runtime security, Upwind looks to provide more integrated protection against modern attack vectors.

Founded in 2024 by Gili Yankovich and Alon Saban, Nyx Security has developed techniques that track code behavior at a granular level, enabling real-time identification of vulnerabilities and abnormal activity. The Nyx team brings experience in embedded systems, low-level research, and cybersecurity leadership, and will enhance Upwind’s development focus in areas such as eBPF, runtime detection, and observability.
